OASIS Community was founded in 2020 to create and maintain an inclusive, safe, person-centered living community for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) where each person can grow and enjoy life in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

OASIS Community is actively pursuing its dream for an inclusive community where every resident with and without an intellectual or developmental disability belongs, is valued for who they are and is given opportunities to flourish.

Our Vision Embodies 5 Guiding Principles.

● OASIS Community is OUR home, a community where every person belongs and is valued for who they are.

● We are AFFORDABLE, a community that uses its skills and resources to help meet each other’s needs.

● We are SUSTAINABLE, a community where every person enjoys quality care and meaningful relationships for the rest of their lives.

● We are INDIVIDUALIZED, a community where every person can create a customizable housing option, where one size need not fit all, and individual needs are addressed through interdependent relationships.

● We are SAFE, a community that works together to foster a secure environment for every person.

OASIS Community is poised to meet a critical need. Recent statistics estimate that Indiana has more than 45,000 adults with IDD, most of whom are still living in their family home due to the lack of affordable and supportive residential options.

On top of this, almost 20% live with caregivers aged 60 or older. Somewhere along the way every parent and guardian will ask themselves, “What happens to my child and who will look after them when I am no longer able to do so?”

The Business of OASIS Community is the Development and Operation of:

●  Residences that are high-quality, supportive, and composed of cozy, welcoming for-sale homes for adults with IDD, and individuals, couples, and families without IDD organized around a common greenspace in a neighborhood designed for people, not cars.

●  Programs and Outings that help adults with IDD improve independent living skills, access transportation, and enhance social skills.

●  Enrichment Center for the social, educational, informational, and recreational benefit of our housing residents and the greater community, in collaboration with qualified nonprofits and community partners.
